ETHDenver: What to know before you go

ETHDenver: What to know before you go

February 21, 2023

What is ETHDenver?

“The purpose of ETHDenver is to bring together builders, creatives, and change-makers to continue driving the adoption of this new world. We are working closely with the state of Colorado and the global blockchain community to actualize this goal,” John Paller, founder of ETHDenver.

The sixth annual ETHDenver is set to begin February 24th 2023, and runs until March 5th. The hosts of this brilliant conference get bragging rights as the “largest and longest running ETH event in the world.” So you know that this event is going to be different from other web3 and crypto events.

ETHDenver reflects the principles of the smart contract protocol by having a member-owned DAO structure, open-to-all hackathons and speakers from various backgrounds, not just limited to blockchain.

What can you do ETHDenver?

The main event

The event itself is split into two main parts:

  • BUIDLWeek
As you can imagine the BUIDLWeek is focussed on development, workshops, and innovative hackathons – this really is the time for the developers and builders to shine.
  • The Core Event
The core event, which comes after the hard work – focusses more on thought leadership, wider blockchain discussion and networking.

To truly get the most out of the event we recommend trying to attend both parts if you can.

Surrounding events

Running alongside the main event are dozens of extra events sponsored by various web3, blockchain, and crypto organisations. These events provide a great opportunity to network and gain insight into the latest trends and developments in the industry from the leaders that are paving the way. From panel discussions to meetups and parties, there is something for everyone. Some examples include:

Hackathons

One of the most exciting and engaging aspects of ETHDenver are the hackathons that take place during the event. These hackathons are open to anyone, regardless of skill level, and provide a platform for participants to showcase their creativity and develop their ideas into functional applications.

They are designed to be inclusive, with a focus on collaboration and community-building. This means that participants are encouraged to work together and share ideas, regardless of their backgrounds or experience levels. This is a great way to learn more about the technology and how it can be applied in real-world situations.

Usually, each hackathon is sponsored by an organization or company. This means that in addition to the opportunity to learn, hackathon participants also have the chance to win prizes, which can include funding, mentorship, and more. This is a great incentive for participants looking for a new project to be part of (or maybe even a new job!) Just make sure to bring your best ideas, showcase your skills, and get stuck in.

Talks and speeches

An important aspect of any conference are the talks and speeches that take place during the event. These talks and speeches are delivered by experts and leaders in the blockchain and web3 space, and provide valuable insights into the latest developments and trends in the industry, and maybe even some juicy breaking news announcements.

The lineup of speakers at ETHDenver is diverse and varied, with a focus on bringing in voices from different backgrounds and perspectives. In the past, ETHDenver has featured speakers from companies such as ConsenSys, Chainlink, and the Ethereum Foundation, as well as leaders in the areas of governance, regulation, and decentralized finance – including none other than Vitalik himself.

There will be a wide range of topics, including blockchain technology, decentralized finance, smart contract development, and more so make sure you have an up-to-date agenda with you throughout.

In addition to providing valuable insights, the talks and speeches at ETHDenver also offer a great opportunity to network and connect with other people in the industry. If you particularly enjoy a talk don’t hesitate to engage with the speaker and their team. This is a great way to gain new contacts and learn more about how you can get involved and support them.
