Mailchain is Partnering with the AragonProject DAO Global Hackathon!

April 10, 2023

We're excited to announce that Mailchain is partnering with the AragonProject DAO Global Hackathon! This hackathon is designed to promote the development of incredible new dApps, exciting new web3 projects, form new hack teams and DAOs, and we're thrilled to be a part of it.

What is the AragonProject DAO Global Hackathon?

The AragonProject DAO Global Hackathon is a virtual hackathon that will take place from April 10th to May 7th, 2023. It is an exciting 4-week virtual event where hackers will leverage cutting-edge governance primitives and existing tools to enable the next generation of DAOs by bringing the best minds in the industry together to build innovative solutions

The Hackathon uses tracks to represent crucial areas of development for DAO tooling and infrastructure:

COMMUNITY & SOCIAL - INTEGRATION TRACKCombine existing tools to address a user need or create a DAO process flow.

CORE DAO TECH - USE CASE TRACKDiscover new and interesting use cases for an existing DAO tool.

NFT - SOLUTION TRACKPresent a challenge and get a solution designed with support from leading DAO infrastructure providers.

Mailchain's Bounties

As part of our partnership, Mailchain is offering bounties for the best projects that use our technology. We're looking for projects that integrate Mailchain's easy-to-use web3 communication and web3 email into their development projects. Our bounties are designed to encourage developers to build exciting new applications on top of our technology.

Bounty 1: Composable Developer Components for DAO Tools and Platforms to Integrate Web3-Native Communication.

Bounty Prize Pool: $1500 USDC

  • 1st Prize: 900 USDC
  • 2nd Prize: 400 USDC
  • 3rd Prize: 200 USDC

Challenge Description:

This challenge is to build or extend useful and composable components for developers, powered by the Mailchain SDK, for native-communication features in web3 DAO tooling or platforms.

Components should be built as functional components supporting real-world use cases and incorporate the Mailchain SDK. Other developers should be able to easily integrate these components into their applications.

Examples include: notification configuration and handling for DAO events, a module to directly compose and send mail to member(s), a delegate-to-delegatee governance update component. We welcome any innovative ideas for useful communication components in web3 DAO tooling or platforms.

Bounty 2: Build or Extend DAO Tools and Platforms to include Web3-Native Communication

Bounty Prize Pool: $600 USDC

  • 1st Prize: $300 USDC
  • 2nd Prize: $200 USDC
  • 3rd Prize: $100 USDC

Challenge Description:

This challenge is to build or extend DAO tools or platforms to include web3 communication features using the Mailchain SDK.

The communication features should support real-world uses cases for communicating with DAO members using their web3 identities (e.g. ENS or Lens) or EVM addresses.

For example, extending a DAO CRM system to include direct-to-member mail, integrating notifications for different calls-to-action, or building a web3-native invoice system for DAO treasury management tools. We welcome any innovative ideas for useful communication features in web3 DAO tooling or platforms.

Bounty 3: Best Application for Enabling Web3-Native DAO Communication and Coordination.

Bounty Prize: $600 USDC

Challenge Description:

This challenge is open to anyone building applications that enable and improve Web3-Native DAO communication and coordination.

The application should support real-world use cases for DAO coordination and must include the option of communicating direct to DAO members’ web3 identities (e.g. ENS or Lens) or EVM addresses using the Mailchain SDK.

For example, a governance proposal manager that sends updates direct to contributors. We welcome any innovative ideas for useful communication and coordination apps and we also love to see the use of other hackathon partners in the tech stack. For example, an application built on ComposeDB with event-driven notifications sent via Mailchain, or an application that uses Lens’ social graph to find new DAO members who can be contacted using their Lens handle via Mailchain.

Bounty 4: Contributor Posts: Developer Tutorials for DAO Communication Use Cases

Bounty Prize Pool: $300 USDC

  • Bounty Prizes: 3x 100 USDC

Challenge Description:

This challenge is open to anyone who would like to write a developer tutorial with code samples that demonstrates how to use the Mailchain SDK for DAO-specific use cases.

Example Topics:

  1. How to send multi-sig event notifications direct to multi-sig owners.
  2. How to use web3 magic links for DAO member whitelists.
